ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AND CLIMATE RESILIENCE PROJECT

Status: Ongoing Area of Work — Continued Development and Partnership Support Needed

The Mount Elgon landscape and surrounding communities depend on healthy ecosystems, productive land, and reliable natural resources. Environmental degradation and climate-related challenges can threaten livelihoods, food security, and the well-being of vulnerable households.

MEUON is committed to environmental conservation and climate resilience as part of its broader community-development mission.

Our work seeks to encourage responsible environmental practices and strengthen community awareness of the importance of protecting natural resources for present and future generations.

We aim to build on ongoing efforts while developing additional activities in collaboration with communities, local authorities, environmental organizations, and development partners.

Our Approach: MEUON seeks to connect environmental protection with the well-being of people whose livelihoods depend on the natural environment. We believe that conservation efforts are more sustainable when communities understand their value and participate in protecting the resources on which they depend.

We intend to strengthen this area of work through appropriate project planning, community engagement, partnerships, technical guidance, and resource mobilization.

Expected Outcomes: Our longer-term aims include increased environmental awareness, stronger community participation in conservation, improved adoption of sustainable practices, and greater resilience to environmental and climate-related challenges.

Partnership Opportunities: MEUON welcomes collaboration with environmental organizations, climate-resilience programmes, conservation experts, responsible businesses, local authorities, and donors interested in sustainable development around Mount Elgon and the wider Sebei region.

OUR COMMITEMENT

MEUON believes that sustainable community development requires both immediate support for vulnerable people and long-term investment in skills, livelihoods, and the environment. By developing women’s economic opportunities, preparing young people for productive livelihoods, and strengthening environmental conservation, we aim to contribute to communities that are more inclusive, self-reliant, and resilient. We invite development partners, donors, institutions, and community stakeholders to work with us in turning these priorities into sustainable impact.
