FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY (FH)
Harvesting Health Project | Kween Program Area
Food for the Hungry, through its Kween Program Area, partnered with Ebenezer Nursery and Primary School under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to implement the Harvesting Health project. This initiative strengthened the connection between education, nutrition, health, and sustainable agriculture by equipping teachers and learners with practical knowledge and skills in school gardening and sustainable food production.
The project promoted healthier learning environments, improved awareness of nutrition and physical and mental well-being, and encouraged the integration of agricultural education into classroom learning. Its emphasis on sustainable farming helped the school build a practical foundation for improving learner nutrition and promoting long-term food security. Today, Ebenezer has an active school garden where learners harvest crops such as matooke and onions, demonstrating the value of connecting agricultural learning with everyday school life.
